My Grandma, my kids' Mormor

My wonderful, wonderful grandma, Carol Bellon Lagerstedt, passed away this morning after being diagnosed with ovarian cancer 8 months ago. There is no doubt that she left this world a better place from her having been in it.

I always knew she thought I was amazing, and also always knew that she thought my children were amazing. Her love for them helped me remember that children truly are a gift from God. She shaped my mom, my mom shaped me, and now I am shaping my children--and I hope I can do as good a job of it as my grandma did.

My kids adore their Mormor. Here are the cards they made for her after I told them the news this morning.

Sammy:

Elise: The cover...
Elise saying goodbye to her beloved Mormor, who is an angel in heaven--with hair!

Mason: The cover of his book is a "broken heart", pages 4-5 are snap circuits, and pages 6-7 are a fairy bringing Mason's love to Mormor and Morfar.

Hi Claire,

I actually just read your grandma's obituary in the Corvallis paper. I'm sure you and your family will always treasure the wonderful memories you have of her. She was such a sweet, sweet lady.

Claire, I am so sorry. I can assume if she was your Grandma, she must have been an amazing woman knowing your family.

And what cool names! Mormor and Morfor? Where did those names come from?
